Boys & Girls Basketball Rules & Regulations
I. Eligibility
-
Players will be 5-18 years of age to participate in league play. Age is determined by the participant’s age as of December 31st, of the current year. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of League Directors.

Players will be divided (to the best of our ability) into evenly split teams based upon age, ability, and skill level.

Each team will have one (1-2) practices per week. Contact your coach for day & times of your practice.

A player may only be listed on one roster per season. A player may choose to play up one age division, but he/she cannot play down an age division.

Refunds will NOT be issued after uniforms have been issued!
II. Equipment/Uniforms
-
All players on each team must wear jerseys that are matching in color, and which have a permanently affixed, non-duplicated number on the front and back of jersey. Yes, League will provide jersey TOPS for all registered individuals.

Players must wear shoes that are designed for indoor wood court surfaces. NO “turf shoes” or other black-soled shoes will be allowed. Players may not play barefooted or in stocking feet.

Referees may ban any equipment that they deem as unsafe or illegal.

Jerseys must be tucked in at all times during games.

No jewelry may be worn at any time during the game.

III. Playing Rules
-
Teams should be present fifteen minutes (15) minutes before game time.

Playing time per game:
-
6-8-year-old division 16-minute halves (Free sub last 2 min of 2nd half)
-
All other ages (20-minute halves) (Sub every 5 minutes) (Free sub last 5 min of game) (Yes league)
-
6-8 Zone 1st half, Man-2 Man 2nd half (you can switch back to zone the last 4 minutes)
-
all other age groups; Defense is up to the coach

Halftime: 3-5 minutes per division.

Basketball sizes used:
-
5-8 will utilize a 27.5” ball.
-
8-11, 9-11 will utilize a 28.5” ball.
-
12 and over divisions will utilize a 29.5” ball.

Full Court Press:
-
6-8 Pressing is NOT allowed until the final 2 minutes of the game
-
8-11, 9-11 Pressing (Zone or Man) is allowed in the 2nd HALF with 5 minutes remaining ONLY. (In house games) no restrictions with travel or put together teams
-
12 and over: Pressing is allowed ALL game.

Mercy Rule:
-
8-16 If a team is up by more than 15 points, that team cannot full court press. They will receive a warning on the first incident and a technical foul on the coach for the 2nd

GAME WILL END WITH 2 MINUTES LEFT IF THE GAME IS 20 POINTS OR MORE

The ten-second rule for offensive teams to advance the ball past half court will be in effect during all games EXCEPT for 5-8 Divisions.

Three Point Shot, all shots made behind the 3-point arc will be counted as such.

Timeouts:
-
Teams will receive 2 timeouts per half (NO CARRY OVER)​

Teams may start with a minimum of 4 players and can finish with as few as two.

Coaches: One (1) Coach may stand during the game. All other coaches must remain seated on the sideline during game play, except during substitutions (Exception: In 5-8 Divisions, one (1) Coach will be allowed on the game floor with the players but will not impede game progress).

You can start a game with 4 players; however, the contest will be 4 vs 5 until the remaining players arrive.
Summer Hoops 4 Peace rules
8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, 16u 16 min halves *Running time
8u First half zone, 2nd half Man-2 Man (Coach can switch back to ZONE with 8 minutes left in the 2nd half.
FULL COURT PRESS IS ALLOWED OR ALL DIVISIONS IN THE 2ND HALF BESIDES 8U, FULL COURT PRESS IS ONLY ALLOWED THE LAST 4 MINUTES OF THE GAME. SUMMERTIME OUT RULES, 3 TIME OUTS PER GAME, only 2 Carry over to the 2nd half

IV. Fouls

6-8 a player may not foul out. In all above divisions, 6 fouls committed during the game will result in that player having to set out the remainder of the game. SUMMER AND WINTER

​ Teams will shoot 1 and 1 on the 10th foul of the half
V. Overtime
-
No Overtime will be played in 6-8 Games, game can end in a tie.

For all other age groups AND HOOPS 4 PEACE LEAGUE
-
a (1) two-minute overtime will be played at the end of regulation. If there is a tie at the end of the overtime period, the game will go to a sudden death play. Sudden Death will be started with a Jump Ball in Center Court. Game will end after one team makes a basket.

For the Overtime Period, Coaches will be given ONE additional time-out.

VII. Conduct/Discipline Policy
-
Any player, coach, or manager ejected from any league game will be suspended for a minimum of two (2) league games.
-
Players, coaches and managers who have been suspended must leave the facilities and grounds immediately or the team will forfeit the game.
-
Each team manager will be held responsible for the conduct of his or her fans/spectators.
-
Physical violence, especially attacks on a game or league official immediately before, during, or after a game, or fights/confrontations between players/teams will result in a minimum of one (1) year loss of eligibility in all leagues play or indefinite suspension in all league play; subject to an annual review if requested.

The referees/Yes League have the authority to remove players, coaches, or spectators from the game and/or forfeit the game due to unsportsmanlike conduct. Unsportsmanlike conduct shall include, but not be limited to, profanity, threats of any kind toward the referees or scorekeeper, fighting (before, during or after the game), or any flagrant foul as determined by the referee.
